Lichtspielhäuser

The old, German term „Lichtspielhaus“ refers to the original concept of the understanding of a cinema. The word consists of the parts light (Licht) and playhouse (Spielhaus) – a place where light is played, meaning a place where light is the medium of image visualization. The images lead through the auditoriums of numerous program cinemas in Hamburg, including movie theatres built in 1913 to completely new state-of-the-art halls. It is a selection of more than 100 years of cinematic architecture.
