Kyrkesund

Island Tjörn

This photo series documents the fishing village of Kyrkesund which is located in the northwest of the island of Tjörn, on the west coast of Sweden. It belongs to the municipality of Tjörn and is located in the historical province of Bohuslän and the province of Västra Götalands Län.

The late medieval settlement of Sumpen near Kyrkesund is one of the oldest in Bohuslän. Kyrkesund still retains its buildings typical of a turn-of-the-century fishing village and is a popular vantage point during the Tjörn Runt regatta.
