Estaçao de Radar N.º 4

The installation of Radar Station No. 4 (ER4) in Pico do Areeiro on Madeira Island is an integral and fundamental part of the project to extend the Portuguese Air Surveillance System (SICCAP) to the archipelago of Madeira. Located at an altitude of 1,813 metres, the radar began transmitting the first radar signal to the CRC (Reporting and Control Centre) Monsanto on 9 May 2012.
