Trauerhaltestelle
by Netter Architekten
At the world’s largest park cemetery in Hamburg-Ohlsdorf, a very special place for mourning has been created, the so-called “Trauerhaltestelle”. It is freely accessible and offers mourners and memorialists a place of retreat that is at the same time public and yet discreet. The “Trauerhaltestelle” enables a new and contemporary form of commemoration which does justice to the individual mourning situation. Altogether, the mourning stop consists of six beige reinforced concrete facade elements and a ceiling section. The elements form two massive concrete consoles that protect the interior from prying eyes despite the public access.
